Contactless Cards In SC

Posted by George Pasley on September 24, 2007

Well, it looks like we were beaten to the punch. First Citizens is the first South Carolina based bank to roll out contactless cards. My employer is looking at offering this also so we’ll be keeping tabs on First Citizen’s success. Personally, I’m a little hesitant to use contactless cards. I’d rather be forced to use my PIN to at least verify that the card was used by me.

With payWave, it has a dynamic vertification value, so your information is protected. Visa has 100% liability on all fradulant charges. Plus, with charges over $25, Visa makes you use a pin or sign, just like any card. Take a look at the many times you go through a drive through and never have to enter a pin for under $25. It’s the same concept, except payWave is more convenient and faster. Plus, better for merchants….they process more people.

Is there an update? Would love to hear your experiences with the card?
